Well, here we are, 3 days after the start of the shoot, and we’re done.
It’s a great feeling of happiness for having completed yet another stage in the filmmaking process, but to a certain degree, at least for me (the Director) it’s also a sadness, knowing I don’t have any more days on set with my wonderful cast and crew!
First and foremost, Angela! I don’t know how many times I thanked her profusely, but it certainly warrants a few more, so… thank you for letting me be a part of your project…I know this was your baby, and I promise to continue to do all I can to make it the best film possible, and to get as many people on this green Earth of ours to see it
I’m very appreciative of the faith you deposited in me — I know I have a lot of learn, and goodness knows how many goofs I made… but you brought on a crew of professionals to help me out, and help me out they did.
I think we had the best cast and crew! Not to mention the wonderful folks in McDade who definitely exemplify the meaning of the word “Texas” and the expression “Southern Hospitality.” We had so many nice folks come up and chat, and offer to help… we are all very grateful
This process began back in June, right after Angela and I worked together on the Austin Actors Conservatory’s (SAG group) Script-to-Screen production of Twilight Nation by Philip Daay and Chris Engen (writers). Angela told me then she would have a set full of accomplished pros to make this dream an actuality, and she kept her word.
I hope everyone had as much fun on that set as I did… it certainly will be an experience I will never forget, and can’t wait to get back to McDade to work on some other projects.
Anyway, I already sent out a personal and private e-mail to the whole production, but again… thank you for all you did, and for those who will continue to work during the post-production, thank you for all you will do… I know we will make this one for the history books
Next steps, go through all the footage, get it to the editor, Joe Handley, who will cut the footage together, and then color correct it, then, when we have a final cut, get it to the Sound Engineer and Sound Designer, Scott Reynolds, who will make it sound like a real movie with sound effects (foley), etc. and then we’ll send it off to festivals and try and get as many folks to see it as possible… so, keep watching, and thanks for your support!
